Giant Squids

1st and 2nd grade learned how to draw BIG after reading I'm the Biggest thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry.

5th Grade Textured Hands

5th graders learned about textures from gooey, to hard, to wood to sharp. They had the challenge of creating 7 different textures and adding value (lights and darks) to ALL of them. Check out their textured results!

Kinder Reflections

Bucktown kindergartners created houses out of basic shapes. We then learned what a reflection was and students painted reflections of their houses on the lake. How lovely!

1st and 2nd Grade Snowmen

Students in 1st and 2nd grade learned about foreground and background. They know that things in the foreground are in the front of a picture and really BIG and things in the background are in the back of a picture and are tiny.

6th Grade American Gothic Parodies

Ms. Loncar's 6th grade class discussed Grant Wood's painting, American Gothic.

Then we discussed the terms symbol and parody and students created their own parodies to American Gothic. Here are there results:

7th/8th Grade Landscapes in the style of Hundertwasser

Ms. Cummings' 7th/8th grade class learned about the Austrian artist Friedensriech Hundertwasser. He was a painter and architect who loved colorful and imaginative subjects. These students created a landscape replicating his style, enjoy the amazing results.
